TUPAC X LACHAPELLE is 3 of 4 in this limited edition collage series inspired by the burning of the Third Precinct & the 2020 Summer Uprisings in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

In April 1996, fine art photographer David LaChapelle made these portraits of Tupac Shakur for Details magazine shortly after he left prison.

Titled "Becoming Clean" and "To Begin Again", I’d learned that the infamous bathtub was conceptualized around the washing away of the past. Prior, I’d only known Tupac as a hypermasculine icon, and found power in LaChapelle’s reframing of his public image through this tender portraiture.
