ICE CACTUS Collection (ART X DISSENT: ANCESTRAL REST)

ANCESTRAL REST is 4 of 4 in this limited edition collage series inspired by the burning of the Third Precinct & the 2020 Summer Uprisings in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Clipped from a variety of National Geographic and LIFE Magazines during the early months of social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic, this piece is a social commentary about the interconnected relationship between human and natural ecosystems.

The three women reminded me of the memories that my deceased matriarchs have passed along to me: how much they loved nature and also people watching, taking in the wonders of their environment, especially when given time to reflect in stillness and rest.
